The second most common avenue for securing used heavy trucks is trade-ins, which is relied on by 35 percent of dealers and business owners. Inventory liquidation and manufacturers followed with 18.5 percent and 4.5 percent, respectively.
“Many dealers choose wholesale outlets such as auctions because they know it’s a trusted marketplace where pricing is based on actual market conditions,” said Karen Braddy, general manager of Manheim Specialty. “The dynamic, competitive bidding process ensures that true market value is determined for each unit.”
